May 6th to 12th is Mental Health Week and this year the Canadian Mental Health Association is focusing on the healing power of compassion. Everyone has the capacity to be compassionate, and a simple act of kindness is a great way to show compassion, boost positive emotions, and enhance a sense of belonging and care for everyone.

To support and build compassionate communities, the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) has created a guide featuring simple activities and resources for all ages. You can find the entire CMHA mental health week toolkit by clicking the title.

Public Schools of Saskatchewan will be recognizing public school student groups or classes that support citizenship or character building within their schools or community by providing annual student Citizenship Awards. Student groups or classes at elementary and high school will be recognized for their contributions.

There are three $1,000 awards for grade 1 to 8 and three $1,000 awards for grades 9 to 12. The application period has been extended to May 15, 2024. Click the title for application information and to read about last year's award winners.
